Like many other supportive roles in the medical industry, the answer to this question will depend on the geographic area in which you work, as well as the type of medical facility in which you are employed.
You’ll find that some common duties for Physician Assistants include assisting during surgery, treating minor and moderate injuries, such as cuts, broken bones and other types. You’ll also find Physician Assistants providing some prescription medication, working in administrative and clerical tasks and even making house calls. Some PA jobs involve working in the home health industry, as well, where supervision is minimal, and they are able to exert more authority.

You will find that all Physician Assistant jobs have several requirements in common, no matter what area of the medical industry they are in. You will have to have completed four years of school, including two years of medical school and two years of secondary education. You will also have to have some hands-on experience in the medical field in some respect.
Other requirements include being licensed and certified by the state in which you operate. These tests are provided by the state and are required in order for you to practice anywhere. This is quite different from other forms of supplemental medical assistance, which are not so regulated.
Finally, you will find that almost all states in the United States require that you undergo ongoing training on an annual basis. Most require at least 100 hours of continuing education and training be completed every two years.
